Introductory Plant Walk
A half-day walkabout becoming acquainted with local plants, both those who evolved on this continent…
This 2-day workshop on alum-tawing creates resilient sheepskin rugs for home use. Alum is a natural constituent found in many soils, and the tawing method is a soaking method that produces bright white leather.
Sheepskins arrive pre-soaked and ready to rack up and soften, which participants do over the weekend while learning about the history of hide tanning. This class has more down time and play than the more focused smoke-tanning workshop.
